USING IMAGES AT YOUR RECEPTION
Using images at your reception is a great way to share your story with your guests.
In my experience, slide shows are not as popular at Wedding Receptions as they used to be. As the receptions have gotten more elaborate, some of the other activities have knocked the traditional slide show out the schedule. This is ironic, if you consider the rise of digital cameras and the ease of putting together a slide show. However, the traditional slide show is still a great idea for daytime receptions, where dancing will not be the main focus.

This is an example of how you can put together a modern - looking slide show that can use animations and music to tell your story.
CONTINUOUS LOOP SLIDE SHOW
An alternative for evening receptions, where dancing is going to be a large part of the night, (and you’re eager to get the party started) would be a continuous loop show during the cocktail hour / first half of dinner. Putting an image presentation there does not slow the reception down at all – you’ll all still be dancing at the same time. It also gives your guests the chance to share in some of your experiences together. It’s a very easy upgrade during what is usually the “slow” portion of the evening.
It’s also VERY easy to put together. Just gather as many images as you can, and we can project them onto a screen for everyone to see. Most venues will have built in screens or multiple flat screen TVs that can be used for the display. Since the images are continuously looping and shuffling, there’s no need to time the show to certain songs.
In addition to any pictures you have taken yourselves, I should add that pictures from a destination wedding or from a professional photographer’s engagement session are especially interesting. If you have used a professional photographer, I would recommend getting the most out of your investment and sharing the images with your guests. Unless you’ve invited a bunch of strangers to your wedding, your guests are interested in you, and seeing your pictures.
As promised, this is a simple idea which is very easy to incorporate into your wedding plans. Which is the point; this is supposed to be fun. It only takes a little bit of effort, with a good plan, to turn an ordinary event into the time of your lives. We’ll be back next month with some more tips.
